Monday Motivation

confidence

Don’t let yourself fall victim to the comparison trap, it’s a dangerous game to play and one that almost always results in failure.

It’s easy to start comparing yourself to other people, ESPECIALLY in the blog world where there’s always someone that’s doing more than you or is faster or stronger or whatever. Speaking firsthand, I know it can be demoralizing to feel like what you’re doing is inadequate when you read about how much more someone else is doing.

Anytime I start to feel like that I try to give myself a reality check. I am who I am and I have to do what’s right for me and no one else. It doesn’t matter if I don’t measure up to someone else because I’m always working to create a better version of myself.

Instead of comparing yourself, celebrate who YOU are. There’s only one of you. Make yourself count.

  1. Amen Girl! I agree with you 150%! It is really easy to get caught up in this, especially when injured, if you let yourself. My biggest competitor is me! I love seeing others achieving their goals but I know my abilities and I am happy with me! If you get too caught up in the comparison game, I think it takes all of the fun out of running and who wants to do something that is not fun? I know I don’t!! Great post!!

    • I think being injured has been SUCH a reality check for me. In a way I’m grateful that I’ve had such a humbling experience. That being said, I never want to go through it again haha!

  2. LOVE THIS!!!!!! When I find myself falling into this I usually have to stop and remind myself of who I am and remember my self worth! I know who I am and that we are all important and special and have individual talents. We have to support each other in our strengths and weaknesses to be successful in this life! :) Great post!!! :)
